Knapp, Adam -- Adam Knapp died Wednesday, May 16th, 1894, in the 75th year of his age. He was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, December 25th, 1819. Emigrated to this country in 1840; located in Portage Co., Ohio.From there he moved to Richland County in 1864, and has been a resident ever since. Mr. Knapp's health has been failing for some time, and of late he was a great sufferer bearing his trials patiently. His funeral took place from his late residence on Walnut street. He leaves a wife and children with many friends to mourn his death. Remains were interred in Oakland cemetery. Those intimately acquainted with the deceased can bear witness to his kindness of heart and his desire to live an honest and upright life. Knapp, Clara - Mrs. Clara H. Knapp, 74, of 66 West Prospect St., widow of Stanley J. Knapp, died Tuesday following a nine-week illness. She was born Sept. 23, 1901, in Mansfield and lived here all of her life. Mrs. Knapp was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ. Surviving are one son, Kenneth S. of 2326 Mansfield-Lucas Rd.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Schmahl of Warren; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Stahlheber of Mansfield. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at thee Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors by the Rev. Allen Reiter. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Knapp, Hannah -- Mrs. Hannah Knapp died Sunday evening, Feb. 13, at 7 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.F. Doll, No. 18 Willow Street, aged 85 years, 3 months and 28 days. Five children survive her: Alex A. Knapp and J.W. Williams, of Union City, Ind.; Mrs. M.A. Stewart, of Elkin, Pa., and Mrs. J.M. Torrence and Mrs. Elizabeth F. Doll, of this city. The funeral from her late residence, Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. Services and interment private. Dr. H.L. Knapp, Harriet L. Condon -- Mrs. Harriet L. Knapp, wife of Bentley Knapp, died this morning at 6:00 at her home on McPherson street, of heart trouble. She had been in ill health for a number of years, but was confined to her bed only about a week. She was the daughter of J.M. Condon, who now resides on Sherman avenue. She was born at Ontario 28 years ago and leaves a husband, four sisters: Mrs. S.G. Au of this city, Mrs. S.S. Hackedorn of Ontario, Mrs. George Mull of Galion and Mrs. Charles Trimble, wife of Dr. Trimble; and three brothers: Howard Condon of Crestline, D.E. and Frank Condon of Galion. Knapp, J. Israel -- Lines on the death of J.I. Knapp. The following lines were suggested on hearing of the death of J. Israel Knapp. This young man sometime during last spring left Mansfield and started the over land route for California. Like many other young men, he resolved to go to the El Dorado of the west, and there to seek a fortune. But alas! his golden dreams of wealth were not realized; he was taken with the Cholera, and after a short illness died. His grave is five hundred and fifty miles from Independence, and twenty from the upper crossing of the South Platte. In his last moments he thought of his home and of his mother. He told his comrade to write to her and tell her of his death. Tell her said he, with his dying breath, "I died resigned to my fate." On the dreary sands of the distant plain, They have laid him down to rest --- He slumbers alone in the far off wilds, In the wilds of the distant west. His golden dream have faded away, All fled are his hopes of gain, He fell in his youth; in the spring of life --- He fell on the distant plain. No Sister's or Brother's hand was there, Nor a mother's voice to cheer --- Neither were there to ease his pain, Or shed for him a tear. With his dying breath, as he dying lay, He lisped his mother's name, Comrade, said he, oh tell to her, As I lived, I died the same. Tell her "I died resigned to my fate," That I thought of her in death, Her face and form were with me there, They were with my latest breath. Knapp, Jacob -- The funeral of Jacob Knapp, of Hinesville, took place from his residence, Thursday morning. The deceased was a well known and wealthy farmer and his funeral was the largest that has been held in that part of the country for years. [Mansfield News: 07 June 1901, Vol. 17, No. 83]

Knapp, Mrs. Adam -- Mrs. Adam Knapp died at her home on Walnut street Thursday morning at 3 o'clock. For nearly a year she has suffered from dropsy and for the past thirteen weeks was almost entirely helpless, able to rest only in a sitting position, so that death to her was a sweet release from suffering. For twenty-seven years Mrs. Knapp had been a resident of Shelby and here she brought up her two sons who survive her. She was a member of the Reform church and died as she lived, a Christian. Knapp, Stanley - Attack Fatal to Stanley Knapp - Stanley Knapp, 54, of 535 Midland Dr., who became ill at the Midway Night Club, 13 East Fifth St., early this afternoon, was dead on arrival at General Hospital. Knarr, Jane -- LEXINGTON -- Jane Knarr, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Knarr, died Sunday night at 11:00 at the home of the mother's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Kauf, on Delaware street. Kneff / Neff, Daniel -- Daniel KNEFF, aged 89 years, died Friday morning at 2 o'clock at his home on Fitting Avenue in Bellville, after a brief illness. Mr Kneff had been a respected resident of Bellville for a number of years. He was born in Lancaster County, PA, and came to Ohio in 1865 (1845) and at one time lived in Mansfield (until 1900). He was one of the gold seekers in California in 1849. He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs Alexander Adams (Keziah NEFF), of Woodland Avenue, this city. A short funeral service will be held at the home Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Nicholson, after which the body will be brought to Mansfield and services conducted in the First Lutheran Church Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock by the Rev Dr Long. Knell, Arch L. -- Mansfield -- Arch L. Knell, 80, of 246 Parkway Drive died Sunday morning in Mansfield Memorial Homes after a long illness. Born Oct. 23, 1902, in Mansfield, he lived here all of his life. Mr. Knell was a retired employee of Ohio Brass and a member of Jehovah's Witnesses of the Mansfield North Congregation. Surviving are one son, George of Bellville; one daughter, Margery Francola of Mansfield; three grand-children; and one brother, Lemoine of Bellville. Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by Harry Morr at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Knell, Lamoine -- Bellville -- Lamoine Knell, 83, of Bellville died Thursday morning in Mansfield General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Mansfield to George and Mary Freehafer Knell, living in the Bellville area most of his life. Mr. Knell was retired from Therm-O-Disc and previously operated a dairy farm on Ohio 546 near Bellville. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville. He is survived by his wife, Alvine Stevick Knell, whom he married Sept. 8, 1934; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Richard Schuster of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Vickie Thompson and David Schuster, both of Mansfield, and Carman Haun of Shelby; six great grandchildren; and a nephew, George Knell, and a niece, Marge Francola, both of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arch Knell, and a sister, Eleanor Mull. Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am by the Rev. Douglas J. Pretorius, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville. Burial will be in Bellville Cemetery. Knell, Mary Elizabeth (Freehafer) -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Knell, 81, or 246 Parkway Dr., wife of Arch Knell, died Wednesday in Mansfield General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 27, 1898 in Jefferson Township and had lived in this area all her life. Mrs. Knell was a Jehovah Witness of the Mansfield North Congregation. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Margery Francola of Mansfield; one son, George of Bellville; three grandchildren; one brother, Charles Freehafer of Mansfield; and one sister, Blanche Burger of Mansfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Ontario Home of the Wappner Funeral Directors by Harry Morr. Burial will be in Bellville Cemetery. Knie, Catharina (Buhr) -- Catharina Knie, born Buhr, died at the residence of her husband, John Peter Knie, in Worthington Twp., Richland County, on the 14th. day of February, 1882. The deceased was born in Goddert-Selters-Nassau, in Germany, on the 18th. day of October, 1803; was married to John Peter Knie, on the 10th day of March, 1833; emigrated to this country with her husband and their three children on the 4th. day of July, 1846. The deceased was a member of the German Reform Church; a true and faithful wife to her husband, and a kind mother to her children; and at the advanced age of 78 years, 3 months and 26 days, leaves her aged husband and their children to mourn their loss. Knott, Julia -- Mrs. Julia Knott, the mother of Prof. James W. Knott, formerly principal of the Mansfield Public schools, died at the family residence in Toledo, Thursday, aged 86 years. Knox, Emma (Shortess) -- Mrs. Wilson Knox, after a lingering illness with cancer, died at her home northwest of Bellville Tuesday night. Funeral services were held at her late home Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment in the Bellville Cemetery. -- [Bellville Messenger: 24 February 1905, Vol. 13, No. 5]

Knox, Emma (Shortess) -- On the 21st. day of February, 1905, at the Knox homestead near Bellville, Ohio, there passed to the better land a rare life in Mrs. Emma Shortess Knox. Her father, Thomas Shortess, was one of the early Methodist ministers and she, early in life united with the same denomination in Lexington, and later in Bellville. She taught school for a number of years and then married Wilson B. Knox. Her life was strong, hopeful and intelligent. A great reader, a splendid thinker, an interested conversationalist, a visit with her was delightful. She was earnest in her church interests, ever learning divine things, and deeply loving God and the realm of the Kingdom. In severe pain her body wasted for four years when her soul sought its home with God. Mrs. Knox was patient and trusted in her last sickness and while she loved this beautiful world she had greater love for God's other land. Five daughters were born to this union: Mary became the wife of Mr. John M. Fry, of Mt. Gilead; Una became the wife of Rev. Vernon W. Wager, LeRoy; Emma the wife of Mr. Chas. Baughman, Bellville; Laura the wife of Mr. Lorain Alexander, Palmyra; and Clara the wife of Mr. Ed Stough, Mansfield. The five sons-in-law and a cousin carried the broken body of 65 years of age to its earthly resting place. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Knox, John -- John Knox, residing three miles west of town [Bellville], died Sunday, March 29, aged 67 years, 1 month and 21 days. His malady was organic heart disease. He was born February 8th., 1836, and was united in marriage with Miss Mary Campbell and she, with an only daughter, Miss Eva, survive him. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church, Tuesday, March 30, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. W.W. Anderson, of Loudonville, and Rev. J.W. Boyer, of this place. Koch, Christine – Christine Koch, 83, of 393 Auburn St. died Friday evening in Mansfield General Hospital after a brief illness. Born Sept. 16, 1904, in Tscherwenka, Yugoslavia, Mrs. Koch moved to Mansfield from Austria in 1952. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, Joseph, of 60 years; a son, Robert of Mansfield; a daughter, Mrs. Friedrich (Christine) Klein of Mansfield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Adam Mueller of Germany; two sisters, Maria Trissler and Elizabeth Schmidt, both of Germany. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors by her pastor, the Rev. Marcus S. Buehrer. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Koch, Conrad -- Conrad Koch, a former resident of Mansfield, but who has been an inmate of the Richland County Infirmary since Dec. 23, 1890, died at that institution this morning about 8 o'clock. About a year ago he sustained a stroke of paralysis and gradually grew worse until he died. He was about 70 years of age. He has a brother, Adam Koch, of Pittsburg, who is in the city. Koch, Mary (Riendfuss) -- Mrs. Michael Koch, of 66 South Diamond Street, commits suicide by drowning! Had a hurricane burst from a clear sky the excitement would not have been half so great as that exhibited by the residents of South Diamond Street Sunday night when the above report was circulated. Mrs. Koch had been suffering with malarial fever for several weeks and last Friday typhoid fever in its worst stage had developed and the patient was affected with hot an cold chills, sinking spells and delirium. Yesterday morning Dr. Stewart made the usual call and left strict injunctions that Mrs. Koch should be very carefully watched. Last evening Mr. Koch and his father sat on the front porch of the house with the door to the sick room ajar. At Mrs. Koch's request the door was closed. Within a few minutes one of Mr. Koch's little daughters came running around to him exclaiming "Oh, papa, mamma's in the well". The startling announcement proved to be too true. Mr. Koch and his father, peering down the well, which was located in the yard back of the house, saw Mrs. Koch lying in the well, half submerged in the water. The husband attempted to raise the cover but his strength failed him and he fainted and was carried into the house, where he was resuscitated. Meanwhile neighbors arrived and Ed Hein procured a rope and lowered himself into the well and brought out the inanimate body of Mrs. Koch. She had evidently jumped in head first. It was evident to all present that she had been some time before the daughter informed the father. Mr. Koch thinks that his wife was delirious at the time of the suicide, which is undoubtedly the case, as she had previously talked in a peculiar manner. The deceased's maiden name was Mary Riendfuss, daughter of Lewis Riendfuss and wife, and was born in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1857, and came to this city with her parents when 7 years of age. In 1875 she married Michael Koch, who is employed at the Humphryes works, and was the mother of four children, one boy and three girls. Besides these she leaves two brothers and three sisters. Koch, Mary (Riendfuss) -- Thursday. Last evening Coroner Maglott filed the following report in the Koch case: "From the sworn testimony given in the above mentioned matter, I do find that said deceased, Mrs. Michael Koch, while in a state of mental aberration did the act of plunging into the well that took her life, denominated suicide. Knowles, Robert -- Robert Knowles died on Dec. 25, 1895, aged 86 years, 7 months and 24 days. He emigrated to America from Yorkshire, England in the year 1831 and settled in York State working at the mason trade. He emigrated to Indiana 1853 after one year returned to Ohio and settled on the farm where he died. He was naturalized in York State and became very interested in the land of his adoption. During the civil war he was for his country first, last and all the time. His grandfather lived to be 103 years old. He leaves one living brother, 4 brothers and 4 sisters preceded him in death. After appropriate services in the Myers church by Rev. Wilhelm he was laid to rest in the Myers cemetery. His neighbors and friends braving the storm, raging at the time, to do honor to his burial. Kochheiser, Anna Margaret -- Anna Margaret Kochheiser was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, March 3, 1831, died February 11, 1903, at her home, 3 miles northwest of Bellville, of general debility, aged 71 years, 11 months and 8 days. Her sufferings lasted about two months. She was united in marriage with Louis Kochheiser, in Allen County, in 1854. To this union were born five children: William, John and Louis Kochheiser, Mrs. Christ Young and Mrs. Geo. Hartenfels. The obsequies took place from her late residence, 3 miles northwest of Bellville, at 11 o'clock a.m., Friday, where short services were held. The funeral sermon proper was preached at the German Lutheran church by Rev. Lehman and the interment was made in the cemetery of that church. Mother Kochheiser was a fine woman, well liked by everybody. She had a world of friends as we testified to by the large concourse of relatives and friends that attended the funeral to pay deceased their last sad rites on earth. Kochheiser, August -- Kochheiser August, a life long resident citizen of this community, was called by death last Wednesday evening, December 3. Mr. Kochheiser, who was 79 years of age at the time of his death, passed away at his home here in town after a short illness. He was born on a farm in the southern part of Washington Township, June 24, 1851. He resided there for many years and operated the farm before moving to Bellville. On December 19, 1876 he married Louisa Faust who preceded him in death by about two years. In 1908 Mr. Kochheiser became instrumental in organizing The Farmers Bank of this village. At that time he was elected president and continued in this office until his death. In this capacity he became known as a man of splendid forethought and sound judgment. He was fair in his dealings and a good cooperator. He was always ready to adopt new ideas if they proved worthy of consideration. The deceased was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical church in Washington township. He was also affiliated with the Knights of Pythias here in town. He is survived by five children, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Lichtner of Columbus, and four sons, Charles C. Kochheiser, Barney Kochheiser, Walter Kochheiser, all of Bellville, and Harvey P. Kochheiser, of Cleveland, one sister, Mrs. Austin Dickson, and one brother, L.F. Kochheiser, both of Bellville. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home, Dr. Paul Salesta, pastor of St. John's Evangelical church, was in charge. The Knights of Pythias conducted services at the grave. Funeral arrangements were in charge of A.A. Shafer and burial was made in the Bellville Cemetery. Kochheiser, Fredericka -- Mrs. Fredericka Kochheiser, a well known resident of this section, died Sunday evening at 9 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Craven, of Toledo. One week ago Saturday Mrs. Kochheiser went to Toledo for a visit and last Thursday was stricken with paralysis. She gradually grew weaker until relieved by death. Mrs. Kochheiser's home was two and a half miles north of Bellville on the old homestead which has born her name for years. She was 76 years of age and highly respected by all who knew her. The children who survive are L.V. Kochheiser, P.B. Kochheiser, William Kochheiser, Mrs. Phoebe Fisher, of West Second Street; Mrs. John Maglott, of east of the city; Mrs. Eugene Craven, of Toledo. With the exception of P.B. Kochheiser, all were at the bedside when the mother passed away. The remains will be brought to this city Tuesday morning and taken to the deceased's late home. Wednesday morning the friends and relatives will meet at the house at 10 o'clock, whence the cortege will move to the German church, about six miles south of this city on the South Main Street road, where services will be held, conducted by the Rev. Paul Lehman, formerly pastor of church, now of Genoa. The funeral will be attended by Mansfield relatives and friends. Kochheiser, Peter William -- Bellville. Peter William Kochheiser who made an attempt upon his life March 28th., died on the night of the 10th. inst. The immediate cause of his death was exhaustion caused by hemorrhage from the wound in his neck and inability to swallow. The wound bled profusely at different times and paralysis of the deglutitory muscles took place, making it impossible for him to receive either food or drink. Kochheiser, William -- William Kochheiser died Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of his brother, L.P. Kochheiser, on the Park. He had been ill since last June. Death came as the result of dropsy. Mr. Kochheiser was born Feb. 7, 1855 in Morrow County, where he spent the early years of his life. For the past twenty years he has been living a retired life, making his home with his brother, L.P. Kochheiser. He was never married and is survived by two brothers, L.P., of Bellville, and John, of Lexington, and two sisters, Mrs. Chriss Young, of Bellville, and Mrs. George Hartenfels, of Mansfield. He was a member of the German Evangelical Church. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the home of his brother, conducted by Rev. Charles W. Koogle, Lauren - Mansfield. Lauren Eugene Koogle, 59, of Mansfield, RD 4, died Monday noon at his home on Harlan Rd. He was a lifelong resident of Mifflin Township, where he was born Feb. 2 1909. Mr. Koogle worked in the range department of Mansfield Westinghouse where he had been employed the past 36 years. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas and the Westinghouse Vererans Assn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in February of 1966 and by a son Wesley in January of 1966. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Arlen Boone, Perrysville, RD 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Koogle, Mansfield, RD 4; and four grandchildren. Kornhaus, Albert -- Tuesday. Rev. Albert Kornhaus, a Mennonite minister, dropped dead in the pulpit of his church near Dalton [Wayne Co., Ohio], last Sunday. He was a brother of Mrs. J.P. Kovacs, Zolton D. -- Zolton D. Kovacs, 68, of 518 Orange St. died this morning in Mansfield General Hospital following a short illness. He was born March 11, 1911, at Cleveland and lived most of his life in Hungary. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 11 years. He was a retired employer of Fisher Body. He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge since 1935 and the United Auth Workers since 1936. Surviving are his wife, Helen Franzel Kovacs, one son, Otto Z. of West Virginia, one daughter, Silvia Channey of Dayton, four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Elone Pokol of Romania. Kovich, Edward – RETIRED MAINTENANCE MAN AT WESTINGHOUSE EDWARD KOVICH STRICKEN AT AGE 78 – Edward Kovich, 78, of 305 Second Ave., died Wednesday evening at People’s Hospital following a two-year illness. Born Oct. 13, 1887, In Austria Hungary, he came to Mansfield in 1905. Mr. Kovich was a retired maintenance man at the Westinghouse Electric Corp. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Johanna Holzworth Kovich; one daughters, Mrs. Katherine Keiser, 303 Second Ave.; three granddaughters, Mrs. John Clark, Mrs. Guy Pasheilich and Mrs. Richard Brauchler; three grandsons, Harold, Richard and Ronald Keiser, all of Mansfield; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Wappner Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:30, conducted by the Rev. Edward Walden, pastor of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church. Kozik, Arthur R. – July 16, 1920 – Feb., 2002 -- Arthur R. Kozik, 81 Seymour , died at 4:07 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 , at Hoosier Christian Village , Brownstown, after an illness of several months. Mr. Kozik served with the U.S. Army 78th Lightning Division during World War II. He was a retired engineer and marketing representative for Jet Electronics. He was a of Vallonia Christian Church, American Legion of Seymour, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1917 in Culver City, Calif., Seymour Flying Club and Independent Order of Foresters. Born July 16, 1920 , in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph Kozik and Daisy Rosella Schroff. On March 13, 1954, in Indianapolis, he married Mary Forester, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Rudy Russell Kozik, California ; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Douglas Kozik and an infant, and two sisters, Dorothy Prosser and Josephine Columbus. Chris Criminger and Ken Jurgens will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Burial will be in Vallonia Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted. Mrs. Kozik was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, 60 North Illinois Ave. Surviving are two brothers, Fred and Tony Schnuerer, and one sister, Mrs. Theresa Deal, all of Mansfield . Kozik, Elizabeth Venarsky -- Mrs. Elizabeth Venarsky Kozik 75, of 583 Lida St. , a resident of Mansfield for the past 52 years, died early this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray F. Lantz, 214 Taylor Rd. , following an extended illness. She was born in Yugoslavia on Sept. 15, 1877 , and was married to John Kozik Dec. 27, 1897 . He preceded her in death in 1922. Mrs. Kozik was a member of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul Kozik of Mansfield , and John Kozik of Galion; five daughters, Mrs. Glenn Stimens, Mrs. Ray F. Lantz, Mrs. A. Robert Burns, all of Mansfield; Mrs. John Pudoka and Mrs. Fred Giannini of Akron. Also 20 grand children and nine great-grandchildren, as well as three brothers in Yugoslavia . Krabill, Jacob -- One of Mansfield's Sturdy German Citizens died Saturday morning, Jacob Krabill of 136 West First Street died at 4:15 o'clock Saturday , morning. Deceased had been ailing for three or four years but had only been bedfast for a week. Death was due to complications of diseases brought on by old age, the deceased being 76 years old at the time of death. Mr. Krabill was born in Germany and had been a resident of Mansfield for about 50 years. He was a brick layer and contractor by trade and leaves a wife and eight children, five daughters and three sons. The present Mrs. Krabill is the second wife. The children are Jacob Krabill of Cleveland, Henry Krabill and Louis Krabill of Mansfield, Maggie Schmidt of Wyandot, Michigan, Caroline of Mansfield, Kittie Schoedinger of Cleveland, Lizzie Guinther of Mansfield, and Ida Wolfe of Galion. Krabill, Jacob -- Jacob Krabill Sr. died at his residence, No. 136 West First Street at 4:15 o'clock this morning. The deceased was born in Germany. He was 76 years of age and had been ill with a complication of diseases for about three months past. Mr. Krabill was a stone mason and a contractor and has been a resident of Mansfield for a period of more than 50 years. He was a consistent Christian, having been a member of St. John's German Evangelical Church for a number of years. Kramer, Benjamin -- Wednesday. the remains of Benj. Kramer, who was run over and killed by a B. & O. train at Alta and afterward identified as a resident of Cincinnati, were exhumed in the local cemetery yesterday afternoon and shipped to Cincinnati last night. Kramer, Dan -- Dan Kramer, a brakeman on the local freight on the Northwestern branch of the P.F., met with a horrible accident at Tiffin Saturday afternoon which cost him his life. Kramer was coupling cars, and by some means his hand was caught between the foot boards of the cars and crushed. He fell outwards across the rail, and Conductor Campbell pulled [him] from between the cars just in time to save his legs from being run over. The unfortunate man expired in a few seconds after the accident. Kramer was from Bethlehem, Pa. His father resides at Salem, O. He was telegraphed to, and the body was ordered to be taken to his home. Mr. Kramer has been in this city for about three years. Mrs. Kramer was born May 13, 1875, in Meadville, Penn., and was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. There are no known survivors. The body is at the Wappner Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. by Rev. J. Brooks Moore, associate pastor of the First English Lutheran Church. Krabill, Michael -- Michael Krabill, a stonemason, residing at No. 10 Crouse Street, died at 10:30 o'clock last night under circumstances which, to say the least, are very suspicious of suicide. Mr. Krabill is about 39 years old. His father, Jacob Krabill, who lives on West First Street, was seen by a SHIELD man this morning and, in speaking of his son's death, said that Michael had been drinking continuously for the past three weeks, and that during the past week he had not eaten a thing, subsisting on liquor, Yesterday morning the deceased arose at 5 o'clock and came up town, returning home again at 10 in the forenoon in a state of intoxication. He was around the house drunk until late in the afternoon, when he went into the cellar, returning within a few moments. Shortly after he became violently sick, vomiting and suffering terribly from cramps. Dr. Ecki was sent for and expressed to the family his belief that the sick man had taken poison. The family then informed him that Krabill had been in the cellar during the evening, where they kept a box of "Rough on Rats". The physician had arrived too late to be of service and the man died at 10:30. Dr. Ecki was seen this morning and said that Krabill's symptoms were those of a poisoned person, but as the family did not know positively whether he had taken any of the "Rough on Rats" his symptoms might also have been the result of his heavy drinking. the proper way to ascertain whether Krabill died from poison or whisky would be to take out the stomach and send it away for analysis, but as the family have not requested it, no investigation will be made. The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. Buesser officiating. Krabill's father and brothers, who live in this city, are known as sober, industrious men, the deceased being the only one who drank to excess. Krazeise, Rose -- Mrs. Rose Krazeise died Sunday morning at her home on Wood Street extension near the intersection of Glessner Avenue. The lady has been seriously ill for the past seven weeks, being afflicted with a complication of diseases. Fifty-four years ago she was born in Switzerland and came to this country with her parents when she was but four years old and lived in Monroe County, O. She was married at Louisville, Ky., and lived there the greater part of her life, coming here to take up her residence about four years ago. Two sons survive her, Frederick J., who is engaged in business at Louisville, Ky., and Joseph A., who has been living here with his mother. The older son came here from Louisville and spent four weeks with his mother during her illness but had returned to his home when a telegram advised him that she was thought to be dying and he hastened here but reached his mother's home a few hours after she had breathed her last. Throughout her life this estimable lady was an active member of the Baptist church until she came to Mansfield when she became a member of Zion's church at the corner of Diamond and Second Streets. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence, one of the ministers of the church officiating. When the son, Frederick J. Krebs, Mrs. Rev. Lewis -- Friday afternoon between five and six o'clock, the wife of Mr. Rev. Lewis Krebs died suddenly at the residence on Willow street. She has been suffering from hernia and it was thought that she was getting along all right until Friday afternoon when her condition was so low that medical aid was of no avail. Krebs, Mary Catherine -- Mrs. Mary Catherine Krebs, wife of Rev. Louis Krebs, died yesterday afternoon at her residence on Willow Street. Mrs. Krebs was born in Mainzlar, in the Grand Dukedom of Hesse, Germany, on the 11th. of June, 1825, and was at the time of her death 65 years, 4 months and 13 days old. She was married to Rev. Krebs on April 13th., 1846, and with her husband came to America in 1853. For four years they resided in Pittsburg, after which they moved to Ohio. The last 17 years of her life has been spent in Mansfield, her husband being pastor of St. Paul's German Lutheran church for that length of time. Early in life she united with the German Lutheran church and her life has always been consistent with her belief. It is unnecessary to extol her virtues, as all who knew Mrs. Krebs knew her but to love and respect her. She has been troubled for a number of years with hernia and on Wednesday she was taken with the complaint. Her condition was not fully realized until yesterday morning, when it was arranged to perform an operation on her, but the attending physicians saw that it would avail nothing and at 4:30 she breathed her last. She leaves a husband and six children, four sons and two daughters, to mourn her departure. The funeral services will be held at St. Paul's German Lutheran church, Monday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the remains will be taken to Cleveland for interment. -- [Richland Shield & Banner: 01 November 1890, Vol. LXXIII, No. 24]

Krein, Joseph -- Joseph Krein who was instantly killed by falling out of a hotel window at Allegheny, Pa., was buried at New Washington, Wednesday. Kreinbring, Rosamond D. – Mansfield. Rosamond O’Haren Kreinbring, 98, Mansfield died Thursday, March 18, 1999 at Lexington Court Care Center. Rosamond was born August 23, 1900 to the late William and Rose Zingler O’Haren, Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member of the Congregation Church and owned gift shops _?_ Seville, Zanesville, and Roanoke, Virginia. Mrs. Kreinbring was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl L. Kreinbring. She is survived by one daughter, Jo_?_ L. Raser of Mansfield; two grandchildren; Keith Ras_?_ Brennick, M. D. of Bernardsvil_?_, New Jersey, and Jeffrey C. Ras_?_ of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren; Matthew Brennick and Gretta Raser. Kreisher, Charles -- One of the most heartrending spectacles it has ever been our fate to witness, occurred a little before six o'clock last Monday evening. Mr. Charles Kreisher was engaged in putting some lumber upon the second floor of his barn assisted by "Irish Jacky" and had stored away about three thousand feet, when the joice [sic] began to show signs of giving away. Mr. Kreisher went below for the purpose of propping it up, when all at once the floor yielded to the terrible weight and the entire pile of lumber fell upon him, crushing him to the floor and killing him instantly. The alarm was given and a crowd rushed to the spot and set to work to remove the lumber as soon as possible, but several minutes elapsed before the unfortunate man could be gotten out, and when recovered was found to be quite dead, his neck having been broken. His remains was [sic] interred yesterday, and he was followed to the tomb by a large concourse of citizens and friends. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss. The deceased was a good citizen and an upright man, and during business life had made many warm friends. By industry and economy he had succeeded in possessing a moderate means of which eh was ever ready to contribute to the wants of his family and those needy around him. Kreps, Margaret - Galion - Mrs. Margaret B. Kreps, 66 of 8858 State Route 61 died this morning in Galion Community Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was born in Crestline and had been a Galion area resident most of her life. Mrs. Kreps was a member of the Galion Golden Age Club, past counselor of the Daughters of America, and a member of the ladies auxiliary of Hercules union. She and her husband were the former owners of Midwest Service Station at State Routes 288 and 61. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Jean ) Lake of Hebron; two sons Lloyd of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Richard of Galion; a granddaughter; three step-grandchildren; a great-grandson; her mother, Mrs. Hattie Krichbaum of Bucyrus; three brothers, Oscar and Gerald Krichbaum, both of Crestline, and Virgil of Washington, D.C.; and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Cox of Crestline. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Snyder and Kubach Funeral Home by the Rev. Luther Muehlbrad. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Kriechbaum, William -- William Kriechbaum, a farmer aged 42, committed suicide last night in a field on his farm five miles northeast of Crestline. Kriechbaum it is understood, had had some little infelicity with his family and all day yesterday was drinking hard cider so that in the evening he was very much intoxicated. Just before he killed himself, he bade the family goodbye, saying that he was going away. His son George was in the barn, saw him going out toward the woods and watched his actions. He noticed his father stop at the edge of the woods and drawing his gun, a 32 caliber Smith & Wesson, shot towards the woods. He then fired a second shot and sank to the ground. The boy told his mother what he had see and the two hastened out to where the father lay weltering in his own blood. Coroner Goodman was notified, made an examination today at the scene of the tragedy and will render his verdict tomorrow. Kriechbaum leaves a wife and three children. Krumm, George -- George Krumm died Thursday, June 30, 2:15 a.m. at his home, No. 132 Glessner Avenue. Mr. Krumm was born at Mengen Baden, Germany, Oct. 15, 1838, and came to Mansfield June 1, 1867, and was married in the following year to Mrs. Mary Gimble. Krumm, Harry Louis -- Harry Louis Krumm, 71, Retired Carpenter, Dies. Harry Louis Krumm, 71, of 64 Hoffman Ave., died at Mansfield General Hospital Monday following an extended illness. Born in Mansfield, Aug. 31, 1883, he had livedin Mansfield all of his life. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Roepke Krumm and one sister, Miss Sarah Krumm, both at the home. Friends may call at the J.H. Kuenzli, Charles F. -- The remains of Charles F. Kuenzli, who died at Mansfield Monday morning, will arrive at Nevada Wednesday afternoon about 1 o'clock and will be taken to the Methodist Episcopal Church, where funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend E. D. Paulin, of Mansfield, assisted by Reverend L. R. Akers, of Nevada. Interment will be made at the Nevada Cemetery. Charles F. Kuenzli was born in Wyandot County July 28, 1880. For a number of years he lived with his parents, ex-Sheriff and Mrs. William Kuenzli, in Upper Sandusky, but moved to Mansfield six years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Clara Fisher of Shelby, April 24, 1905. The wife and one daughter, Thelma, aged three years, survive. Mr. Kuenzli also leaves besides his parents, one sister Mrs. I. Kuhn, Cyrus -- Coroner Baughman went to Shelby this morning and held an inquest over the dead. He found the facts according to the above report, but failed to place the responsibility. The three Shelby victims were consigned to their last resting place this afternoon. Kuhn, Cyrus -- Shelby. Word has been received in Shelby of the death of Cyrus Kuhn at Emporia, Kan., a short time ago. Mr. Kuhn was a former resident of this town and was a soldier in the 120th. O.V.I. in the civil war. A number of his regiment still live in Shelby. [Mansfield News: 23 August 1899]

Kuhn, Jacob -- Jacob Kuhn was born in Franklin County, Pa., Nov. 26, 1824, and died five miles southeast of Shelby, Aug. 25, 1876, aged 51 years, 9 months and 29 days. In the year 1847 he was confirmed a member of the Reformed Church, at Greencastle, Pa., the same year he settled in this county. In 1851 he was married to Mary Sheaffer. Six children survive the departure of a kind husband and indulgent father. One daughter died in early childhood. Brother Kuhn was one of the original members of the Reformed Church of Shelby, organized the 26th. of May, 1852, and was for many of his last years an elder of the church. He was somewhat singular in his habits, but always himself and no one else - honest, sincere, consistent, and was industrious and active in business. In manner plain and assuming, having a natural aversion to mere show in religious and social life. As a Christian he was intelligent, prayerful, upright and a marked example of liberality. He was conscientiously regular in his attendance upon the means of grace, and as a citizen was much esteemed, as was evinced in the immense concourse of people present at the funeral services, held at the Reformed Church last Sabbath. In devotion to his memory his pew was draped in mourning, so also the altar and chandelier. Dark vases filled with beautiful flowers also added to the impressive surroundings. The sermon was preached by his pastor, Rev. N.H. Loose, with remarks, and other assistance by Rev. D.I. Foust. After the church services his remains were taken to the Mt. Pleasant church yard, and there with burial rites of the church, and solemn strains of sacred song, consigned to rest in peace, and in hopes of a blessed resurrection. - - N.H.L. Kuhn, Mary Janett (Hoffman) -- Jackson Township. Mrs. Nettie Kuhn, wife of Samuel Kuhn, Sr., of Plymouth Township, was buried from her late home in Plymouth Sunday. She was for many years a resident of Jackson Township and was a sister of J.W. Hoffman. [Mansfield News: 19 May 1899]

Kuhn, Mrs. Jacob -- A sad accident happened at the residence of Mrs. Jacob Kuhn, residing a mile and a half west of Spring Mill, near the telegraph office on the Coldwater Railroad, last Saturday evening. Jacob Kuhn was engaged in cleaning a loaded revolver in the kitchen where his mother was getting supper, when the revolver was accidentally discharged, the ball penetrating his mother's side. She was still alive on Monday morning though little hopes of her recovery are entertained. [Ohio Liberal: 11 July 1877]

Kuhn, Peter -- Peter Kuhn, 85, widely known Civil war veteran died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nellie McCracken, 24 High street. He was a son of Samuel and Julia Ann Reymer Kuhn and was born in Plymouth Township, December 31, 1842, the last of a family of ten children. On February 27, 1868 Mr. Kuhn was married to Sarah Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death 24 years ago, leaving five children—three sons and two daughters—Samuel H., Orville W., Bert S., Mrs. Nellie McCracken and Mrs. Anna Bricker. Mr. Kuhn was affiliated with the church for 60 years being a member of the Mt. Bethel Lutheran church for the past 52 years. The deceased experienced many engagements in the Civil war. He enlisted in Company B., 121, O.V.I., and served until the close of the war. He marched with Sherman’s army to the sea, one of the most spectacular military pageants in American history, and was a participant in the battle of Perrysville. At the close of the war, with his company Mr. Kuhn was located 175 miles from Richmond, Va. They started for Richmond and reached there after five days of travel. After a few days rest, the company continued on to Washington and on May 23 they marched up Pennsylvania avenue before the executive heads of the nation. Mr. Kuhn was honorably discharged at Columbus June 19, 1865. His grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. Mr. Kuhn was a member of Harker Post, No. 146, G.A.R., at Shelby. Funeral services are to be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Mt. Bethel church, his pastor, Rev. W. C. B. Harris, conducting. (Monday, June 18, 1828, Mansfield News)

Kuhn, Peter -- Seven comrades from McLaughlin post, G. A. R., attended the funeral services for Peter Kuhn at Mr. Bethel church near Shelby yesterday. Mr. Kuhn, 85, was a member of the local post. Those in attendance were: Commander G.W. Benedict, G. P. Sattler, G. W. Ricketts, LeRoy Parsons, A.J. Gilbert, John Constance and P.C. Hiltabiddle. These Civil war veterans performed the Grand Army service in an impressive manner for their departed member. Rev. W.C.B. Harris delivered the sermon, and burial was made in Shelby cemetery. Kunkle, Donald Gerald -- Donald Gerald, four-months-old son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Kunkle, died Wednesday of heart trouble. For some time the baby had been in poor health and was taken to the Columbus hospital for treatment. Its death occurred at the residence of the parents, who are living on Mrs. Laura Stofer's farm, south of town. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:00 at the residence, Rev. Cleland, of Butler, officiating. The following little girls acted as pall bearers: Iris Aungst, Rosanna Hirsch, Rhea Dill, Martha Riley. Interment was in the Butler cemetery. Kunkle, Rebecca (DeLong) -- Following an operation for appendicitis, performed last week at General hospital, Mrs. Rebecca DeLong Kunkle, aged 59 years, wife of G. Emerson Kunkle, a resident of Brown township, Knox county, died Saturday morning at 1:35 o'clock at General hospital. Mrs. Kunkle was born in Jefferson township, Knox County, Feb. 22, 1869, the daughter of Jacob DeLong former well known live stock dealer in that section. When a young woman she moved with her parents to the locality in which she was married to Emerson Kunkle and where she spent many years of her life. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Cloyce, of Butler, William of Brown township, Blain at home, a grandson Lloyd, a sister Mrs. Dora Matthews, and a brother Roy DeLong, of Knox county. Funeral services are to be held Monday morning. leaving the family home five miles southeast of Butler where the body was removed Saturday by Ira George, Butler funeral director, at 10 o'clock. Rev. Kunkle, Susana (Leedy) -- Mt. Carmel. A.B. Leedy and wife and Jacob L. Swank, attended the funeral of Susana Kunkel, relict of Andrew Kunkel, at Bryan, last Friday. They were both born and raised in this vicinity, Mrs. Kunkel [sic.] being a daughter of Daniel Leedy. After their marriage they moved and settled on a farm in Williams County, near Bryan, building up a nice home out of the primeval forest. Kunkleman, Eve -- Died, June 17th., 1873, at the residence of her daughter in Ganges, Mrs. Eve, wife of Jacob Kunkleman, of Shelby, aged 69 years. Mother Kunkleman was united in wedlock to Jacob Kunkleman in the year 1823; she bore to him four children, all daughters, one of which is dead. The deceased was a member of the London Reformed Church of this county, but she and her husband had made application for membership in the 1st. Lutheran Church of this place, and were to have been admitted as soon as she could come to the Church; but she never was able to come. Some time since her husband took her to their daughter's home in Ganges where she breathed her last. The funeral took place on the 18th. inst. A sermon was preached at the London Church by Rev. D.I. She leaves a husband and five children, the eldest 15 years, the youngest eight months. Kurtz, Caleb -- Monday. Caleb Kurtz, an old pioneer resident of Springfield Township, died February 11, 1889, aged 73 years, 6 months and 21 days. Mr. Kurtz was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and came to Richland County, Ohio, in 1836. Since then he has resided a part of the time at Mansfield and Galion and for the last 22 years in Springfield Township. The funeral took place at Ontario and the services were conducted by Rev. Hill, Lutheran pastor at Crestline. Merle; a brother William, all of Mansfield, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Chapman of Logansport, Ind. The body was removed to the Wappner funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Grover E. Swoyer, of the First Lutheran church officiating Burial will be in I. O. O. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church, American Legion McVay Post 16, Retmen's Club and St. Peter's Sixty Plus Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Genevieve Turney Kyle; one son, Donald W. Jr. of 735 Walnut Dr. South; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Marilyn) Campbell of Upper Arlington, six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Blouse of York, Pa.. Her husband and a son, William, and a daughter, Miss Minnie, survive her and her ever kind and gentle presence will be missed around the sacred shrine of home. She will also be missed in the social circles in which her presence was ever a joy and inspiration. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and faith and hope were the anchor of her soul in the severe ordeal of her illness and whom the shadow of death hovered over. Kyner, William -- At his home near Lexington where he died at midnight last Saturday night, the funeral services of William Kyner, aged 86, famed for his fiddling during the past 75 years, were held this afternoon, his pastor, the Rev. Nelson Shedd of the Lexington Presbyterian Church officiating. During the gold rush to California back in 1849, when he was a lad of 11 years, he fiddled his way to California then back home again. In the mining camps the youngster was very popular for his ability as a musician it is said. He was born April 14, 1838 at Shippensburg, Pa., but shortly after his birth his parents removed to Holmes County, Ohio, where on the night that Lincoln was assassinated he was united in marriage with Sarah M. Corey. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. Jenner McBride, one grandson and a brother. For many years he has lived near Lexington. [Loudonville (OH) Times: 28 February 1924]
